Description

It has been quite a year. I think I've improved quite a bit over this year as well, which makes me happy~ I feel like I branched out a little more and tried some new things, as well as figuring out some of my weaknesses so I can improve on them. Here's the original template by the way~

January - I really liked this piece when I made it, and I still do. It was a trade for an adoptable by Mr-Babe and I had so much fun drawing this little one; she's got such a cute design. Not to mention I was able to get it done quickly and with pretty successful results. It's a good memory of mine to just dig into my work and thoroughly enjoy it like I did /u\ It's also been the one piece I return to whenever I want to try out a new colouring style, but I've never posted them since she's not my character <X3

February - This was definitely a time of trying new things. I was so utterly impressed with myself for finally figuring out a bunch of different things I was able to do and was so excited to create some canon IZ art again. I'm honestly still pretty pleased with this one; the vibrant colours really do it for me I think. And I was really proud of the title X3

March - I believe this was my first-ever actual commission! Which is super exciting of course~ Not to mention I had a cutie to draw, Kodoukat's Cith has a great colour scheme as well, and those markings~ I remember playing around a lot with the shading on that one; I didn't really know what I was doing but it all turned out okay in the end <X3

April - Ah yes, Becksters-The-Beast's baby Kale~ I really do love how this one turned out, even now. Crisp shading, bright colours, a psuedo-background. Very stylized, and of course the subject is one of my favourites :heart: I had a fun time designing that outfit. Who would've known that in just a couple months I'd be doing the very same thing again? X3

May - Practically a vent piece, Bandaid was something I made to cover up my own hurt over something that shouldn't've happened. It was a sucky situation but painting that dress did make me feel better. I was so proud by the time I was done. The situation slowly ebbed and I felt better as time went on, but now it's a reminder for me that even when I'm feeling particularly blue that I can still make it through and make something I'm really happy with~

June - My Tim child! It was practically the first time he'd really been shown off other than the character chart and of course I stuck him in a dress. Well, this was at the same time that Bar's first round of IPP had come out, so it was just kind of a thing I was doing to my sons I suppose >w< I had a lot of fun making the pastel colours and mismatching tights. I still really want those sky tights he has, maybe I'll vanity print them someday~

July - One of my first art trades, this one with BadLuckAlice! I was soooo proud of the shading in this one; I had figured out how to half soft and half cell shade in the same layer and I had so much fun with it~ Not to mentioned drawing Ratt Lad was loads of fun as well, he's such a cutie :3c

August - Ah yes, my favourite IPP entry of them all~ (I'll admit though, this last one and October's are tied for a close second) I was so proud of my speedpaint of this one, as well as the way I had been able to shade it. Looking back on it I can see more flaws than before but I still like it the best~ The fact that it had been my first real attempt at something other than bouncing or eye movement really clinched it at my favourite. I was also so proud of how the space turned out, and getting to put Bar in a kimono was definitely one of the most well-suited outfits for him in my opinion~

September - Another one of Becksters-The-Beast's babs~ Jirin was such a cutie and even though making the birdcage was a hassle, I couldn't be happier with the end result. I got to use textures and shine and practice my shading that I'd done in the IPP round; it was just all around a good time. I think my favourite part is still his pastel striped leg warmers though X3

October - Ah yes, the month that my computer died. Even feeling down and out again, I still tried to make sure that I was still creative. And of course, inspiration struck that month whether the means were available or not. Obviously I shouldn't've watched Zootopia and then promptly taken a nap because these darn bunny boys plagued my dreams. I have too many bunny children, I need to get around to introducing them all. It's the names, always the names that hold me back from writing. Also, this might've been the first piece that I'd attached a bit of my writing to; it turned out alright I think /u\

November - The spare computer this time! I talked about it briefly but I had access to a 2007 Vista desktop with which to draw, and even though the choice was between that and drawing traditionally, I can tell you it was a difficult choice. There's a reason I did less drawing in general over that time. But! I was still pretty pleased with how this one turned out~ It was difficult for the computer to load everything in since it was such a large file but it ended up doing the job well enough. During this time I was really trying to develop my own manga style again since I'd lost it amidst aliens and space and cartoons. The screentoning really brought the whole thing together and I'm still quite satisfied with how it turned out, especially since it's fanart of one of my all time favourite video games~

December - And here we are finally. I was playing back and forth on a few different choices for December; it being the closest yet meant that I still liked most of them <X3 I ended up going with my current showcase piece though, since I think it really is my favourite and best as of yet. It's far from perfect and I know that, but for my first dip into trying stained glass and tarot cards and finally doing some proper metal shining, I'm still quite proud of it. Colour theory is still a bit of an unknown science to me, but I'm going to try and improve in this next year so I can really wrap my head around it and make proper pictures that I can look back on and say "Yeah I basically knew what I was doing." This one is definitely not that X3 But it was experimentation and trying something very new and different to me, and that's well worth appreciating too~

Onto an even better year next year :heart:

ahhhh I love watching your art evolve! You're so good at all of this stuff and I know you'll just get better and better as time goes on. ovo I've literally had the picture of Jirin open in a tab since you posted it and I just go and stare at him. ;;v;; you made him so pretty. Maybe I should just make him my lock screen. ;;v;; (which is still the gift from christmas 2015 btw)
Would you mind if like all of the art you gave to me just goes up in my profile description? I'd like to do that. ;;v;;
